Have you added a freewheeling diode across the coil? Directly adding a capacitor directly over the switch output could cause fairly large currents within the transistor. Perhaps a RC or LC filter would be better?
I haven't done anything yet. I had thought of a freewheel diode. I was planning to put resistor between the EVision output and the transistor's base, and a capacitor between the base and ground. That ought to soften up the switching, but it also might not work at all.
I'll report when I try it out, but it's likely to be several months down the track (or if I'm bored some time) as it's quite a minor problem.
